New Art Plaques

Every so often, I get totally obsessed with a new idea.  It's all I can do to not create the idea I am obsessing about.  Sometimes, I come up with a great new product line and we end up making some money from it - like my Family Portrait Platters.  I spent an entire week drawing little tiny brides and grooms, pets, hairstyles.  Good thing too - they are our 4th biggest seller at the boutique.

I was out in the warehouse the other day and I found 6 boxes of china plaques that I bought years ago.  They have been sitting collecting dust for so long that I can't even remember what I bought them for.  There is something super kitschy about the plaques - they remind me of stuff from grandma's house - like her little sign that hung outside the bathroom that read, "Some sit here to sit and knit; some come here to sit and *$%-."

The idea is that you see this frilly porcelain plaque and expect to read something cute and grandma-ish but instead, the wording is surprising.  Initially, I wanted to go risque but to be quite honest, I'm not really the potty mouth type.  It just isn't me.  So, I went more towards wording and imagery that is surprising but positive.

There are 12 plaque designs in all.  I am hoping to post them on my Etsy store and also on The Younique Boutique.  They don't quite fit into to the rest of our stuff but they are so darn cute, I can't resist.  Plus, everyone who has seen them wants one.  That's a good sign.  Literally.
