Looking to create your own flower girl basket? This method
is inexpensive and easy. You will need the following materials:
- One small basket
- Spray paint
- 3-4 yards thick white or ivory satin ribbon
- 1-3 yards thin white or ivory satin ribbon
- Silk flower or satin roses to embellish
Select a small basket from your local craft store. If it
is natural colored, purchase a can of white spray paint. Allow
a day for painting. Give the basket several light coats of
spray paint on each side.
Use a wide, white or ivory satin ribbon to cover the basket.
Cut about 30 lengths of ribbon long enough to cover the basket
from the very center on the top, to the center of the bottom
and add a couple of inches. Pull each length of ribbon through
a centered hole in the basket and tie a small knot at the
end.
Wrap each length of ribbon over the top and rim of the basket
and hot glue into place. Use another longer length of ribbon
to wrap the handle.
Create bows using a thinner white or ivory ribbon. Allow
about 8-10 inches for the bow's tail. Hot glue the bows on
either side of the basket beneath the handle. Use silk flowers
or satin roses to embellish your basket.
