10 Things That Don't Matter at Your Wedding
By Candy Friedman

Here's a list of ten things not to worry about at your wedding. You might think that any
little mistake or faux pas would be the end of the world, but trust me, the majority of little things that may go wrong, no one but you will notice or even care about.

1) If the cake topper is different than you remember, no one will notice.

2) If you miss a word or a line when you or your groom are saying the vows you each wrote, no one will notice (as long as you say "I Will" or "I Do" correctly).

3) If the flowers in the centerpieces are made up of only 7 lilies instead of 8, no one will notice.

4) If you forget to wear your necklace, earings, or something blue, no one will notice.

5) If the napkins are the wrong shade of pink, no one will notice. Same with your nailpolish.

6) If one of your bridesmaids walks down the isle with the wrong groomsman, no one will notice.

7) If the band/dj forgets to play "The Electric Slide", no one will notice (and someone might actually thank you).

8) If you walk a little too slow or a little too fast down the aisle, no one will notice (as long as you're not sprinting like a track star).

9) If the bestman doesn't say anything to embarass you or your groom, no one will notice (and you'll probably be very relieved).

10) And last but not least... if Aunt Mary or Edna (supply the relative of your choice here)gets too big of a piece of wedding cake, no one will notice, and your Aunt will probably enjoy every moment of it.

What do you think?

that's real cool

a -- Tuesday, April 8 2003, 02:34 pm

what? the best man is supposed to say something embarassing?

ally -- Sunday, May 25 2003, 03:08 pm

thanks for putting things in perspective! :)

michele -- Monday, July 21 2003, 05:02 pm

lol...you're so right on those! Another thing no-one noticed at my wedding was that my veil wasn't over my face!!!!

Don Paul -- Friday, September 5 2003, 12:40 pm

Someone will notice number 7 and someone will request it. You tell them no.

blackrose -- Monday, October 20 2003, 04:52 pm

very encouraging :) thanks :)

Jeanette -- Monday, October 27 2003, 04:47 pm

Someone will probably notice the tattoos and say something

BEVERLEY -- Tuesday, March 2 2004, 09:40 pm

Who cares what they notice, It's my day I rule!!!!

Jessica -- Sunday, April 25 2004, 08:43 pm

Also make sure that no one suggests the Macerina. I'd go nuts. No Hookey Pokey either!

Not everything is perfect, not everything goes according to plan. Just so long as you don't fall down, nothing catches fire, and you don't fight with your sister (or she doesn't fight with you) everything should (hopefully) be ok. At least, that's what I'm hoping for. (I have a knack for falling at inappropate times.)

Doubting Dave -- Tuesday, May 25 2004, 09:17 am

Maybe nobody will notice except for you. Then it will be on your mind and you can't concentrate. Everyone should just check everything before the wedding and practise extra good and they will have and great day.

Chiara -- Monday, June 28 2004, 03:43 pm

As long as my gorgeous groom is there I could care less if the cake doesn't show up or anything else, seriously.

Dachshund Queen -- Friday, July 2 2004, 09:41 am

It's a wedding, one day in the rest of your MARRIAGE. Too much emphasis is placed on wedding preparation and not marriage preparation! These caterers, florists, and other hired help are driving me up a wall.

Andrea -- Sunday, August 8 2004, 11:55 am

YOU ARE SO RIGHT. THAT MADE MY DAY, THANKS

Adam's wifey -- Wednesday, August 25 2004, 06:16 pm

That's right is's your day and you should be having fun. Just go with it.

Lianne -- Saturday, November 6 2004, 09:40 pm

I agree, I think it is easy to get caught up on the details and forget what the whole thing is really about. The number of people that have told me 'It's your wedding and you have what you want' when trying to sell me the most expensive dress, or flowers or invitations, when what i personally wanted for my wedding was simple and intimate, with lots of smiles.

Dee -- Saturday, February 19 2005, 12:16 am

I did fall down...No one remembers except my family and his. I'm still just as married 6 years later. And look on the bright side, you should go ahead and lose your dignity now...It makes child birth less of a shock!

RYLEIGH -- Tuesday, February 22 2005, 09:10 pm

my wed will be in dec and I am so caught up in the details I wish i could cater, decorate, do everyones hair, ect myself so its perfect. I know I will be in for a big surprise when the day comes. Ah!!

charlene -- Tuesday, April 19 2005, 04:43 pm

My wedding was a very small affair, only a handfull of the closest family, and the officiant was an old family friend. During the ceremony her young son became obviously bored and we could all hear him in the background muttering, "Blah blah blah," under his breath. It could have ruined the day for me but instead it gave us a funny memory to cherish and a story just a bit different from the ones you usually hear. The little things that inevitably go wrong can help your special day stand out from the other weddings people will go to, if you're willing to see the humor.

Glenda -- Wednesday, June 1 2005, 05:07 pm

We had an outdoor wedding at a memorial chapel. Our friend was playing taped music for the procession and got it right... but for the recessional, he lost his place and instead played bird chirpings instead of Pachobel, Canon in D... what a nice substitute and of course everyone thought it was planned!

El -- Thursday, August 25 2005, 08:51 am

that's a load of bull...the point is not that no one notices, it's the fact that you didn't want your napkins that shade of pink...and you did want 8 centre flowers and you paid for 8..why should you settle for 7...i think you're point is...don't let it ruin your night...but of course no one else notices..the fact is you do...and you organised it!!but again...just don't let it become the focus of your day because in the grand scheme of things...it's not real!
